The story behind the band name is one of great disorganisation.
In August 2011, original members Matt, Elliot and Ricky formed the band 2 days before a local music competition. Despite never playing together the band played one newly written song and one of Matt's
older songs. Despite not placing, the band tasted the fun of performing together.
After the departure of Elliot in late 2013, new drummer and previous collaborator, Cody, joined the band. He performed a brief string of shows before Matt and Cody recorded the first studio album for the band, V.
Ricky departed the band in early 2014 during the recording of the album so Matt stepped into the bass role on the recordings as well as Guitar, Piano and Vocals. After successful sessions for V the band became quiet,
only playing three shows that year including a charity concert. Ricky joined in for these final shows before each member went to pursue their education.
Finally, with the release of V in mid-2015, Matt found a new path for FOW as a solo project. He started work on the next studio album while in his first year of University. After initially trashing the 12 songs that were meant to appear on the album Matt wrote and released the award winning album, Golden Man.
